Your not a great typist?

If you own an Apple Mac, an iPad or iPhone you can enable dictation mode. You don’t have to type, speak and your words will be typed into your Pages document!

Just babble on and edit it later.

Here’s How:

Speak your story into your iPad.

​

Make sure you have the latest version for IOS

  1. Go to Settings > General > Keyboard.

  2. Enable dictation.

  3. Open up your word processor (pages)

  4. Tap the keyboard and select the microphone (bottom left)

 

Start speaking. Do it slowly until the software understands your unique voice inflections.

You can also replace selected text by dictating.

Speak to your IMac or Mac-Pro

 

 

  1. Go to System Preferences > Dictation & Speech

  2. Select Dictation

  3. Click on the Dictation radio button to turn it on

  4. Check the Use Enhanced Dictation box

  5. Select Language

  6. Make shortcut the Fn (Function) Key twice (turns dictation on within a document).

  7. Go to System Preferences > Accessibility

  8. On left pane of pop up click on Dictation

  9. Click on the Dictation Commands button

  10. Check the enable advanced commands box under the list of commands.

 

Add punctuation or format text

While dictating text, say the punctuation or formatting.

For example, “Dear Mary comma the check is in the mail exclamation mark” becomes “Dear Mary, the check is in the mail!” Punctuation and formatting commands include, but are not limited to the following:

It works in your email program and internet browsers as well. Happy days!

 

The more you use this, the better it will get interpreting your words.
